The European Chess Union (ECU) invites all National Chess Federations of ECU to participate in the European Youth Rapid and Blitz Chess Championship 2025 under 8, 10, 12, 14, 16 and 18 years, organised from 4 August (arrivals) to 8 August (departures). The event will be held in the Conference Hall of the 5-star Porto Palace Hotel in Thessaloniki, Greece.
The European Youth Rapid and Blitz Chess Championship 2025 consists of two different events:
24th EUROPEAN YOUTH RAPID CHAMPIONSHIP
Date of play: 5-6 August
Six age categories: U8, U10, U12, U14, U16 and U18, Open and Girls sections separately
System of play: 9 rounds, swiss system
Time control: 15 minutes + 10 seconds increment
Prizes: the best 3 players, in each category, will receive trophies, medals, and gift prizes.
24th EUROPEAN YOUTH BLITZ CHAMPIONSHIP
Date of play: 7th of August
Six age categories: U8, U10, U12, U14, U16 and U18, Open and Girls sections separately
System of play: 9 double rounds (two games per round), swiss system
Time control: 3 minutes + 2 seconds increment
Prizes: the best 3 players, in each category, will receive trophies, medals, and gift prizes.
The Chess Solving Competition will take place on Wednesday, 6th of August.
Tournament schedule:
Each National Federation can register the unlimited number of players that meet the age requirements of each section.
Entry forms must be filled and sent to the Tournament office no later than June 20th, 2025. If the registration form is not completed by the federation itself, a copy must be sent to the national federation for approval.
The complete registration form of each delegation should be sent by the national federation, or have its approval, and must include the surname/s, first name/s, FIDE ID number, FIDE rating, dates of arrival/departure and passport number (for visa only purpose) of each player, each accompanying person and each delegation member where applicable. It must also include clearly the name, telephone and e-mail of the Chief of Delegation who must be an adult.
